Curt Schauer from ArtStreet San Jose is looking for an artist to share his studio space near downtown San Jose and the Coleman Avenue Target Marketplace. The studio has great lighting including two skylights and is set up for fused glass art (including a kiln and cold working equipment) and monotype printing (including an 18" press) in about 500 sq. ft.
Curt will make half the studio about 250 sq. ft. including bench space plus half the large overhead storage area available to the selected artist. Lots of street parking available. Rent is $250 per month on a month to month basis. If the artist works in print or glass, use of equipment is also available at a reasonable rate.

Attention Artists of all Disciplines!!
**DEADLINE EXTENDED to February 8th.**
For the first time since reopening in 2004, the Lucas Artists Residency Program at Montalvo Arts Center is hosting an open application process solely for California artists. Through the generous support of the Irvine Foundation, Montalvo Arts Center’s Lucas Artists Residency Program will be accepting applications from artists of any discipline residing in California. The Lucas Artists Residency Program is a multi-disciplinary, international residency, seeking contemporary artists from throughout California who feel they could significantly gain from time in our program and also contribute to the Art Center's activities through our Final Fridays program, our open house, public presentations, outreach, performance or through explorations of art on our 175-acre public park and historic site.
Montalvo Arts Center's Artistic Programs develop from our residency. This coming year artists will explore the topic of wellness as we launch our 2013-14 thematic program: Flourish: Artists Explore Wellbeing. For 2014-2015 we will be examining change and innovation. If you address these topics in your own work and/or if you would like to explore them while in residency, please address this in your Letter of Intent.
Applications will only be accepted via Slideroom at: http://www.montalvoarts.slideroom.com/ - deadline is January 25, 2013. All past Lucas Artist Fellows or individuals currently enrolled in a degree program are not eligible to apply. Selected artists will be announced in March 2013.

Ken started painting in his early 20’s experimenting with acrylics and watercolors. At that time, he was teaching young children in Berkeley. With marriage and a growing family, his occupation changed directions. He entered the banking industry and has successfully developed his career over the past 35 years. He is currently President of Avidbank in Palo Alto. Only recently was he encouraged to take up art again. Ken has found the medium of oil painting an inspiring way to stimulate the mind and bring the beauty of the world around us to life. Painting has allowed him to develop a passion for creative expression.
In our world, color embodies a wide spectrum of feelings and emotions. It is used to convey power, joy, intellect, royalty, and purity among others. Each color represents its own purpose and meaning. In nature, color has evolved to communicate different messages. Poison-arrow frogs have bright, flamboyant colors to stand out as a warning signal to predators. The male peacock has extravagant colors in its eye-spotted tail, which are used for courtship. Other animals like the chameleon use color for camouflage, which enables them to remain hidden from potential threats. For Ken, color is an intense underlying theme throughout his work that allows him to truly express himself. The colors in his work give dimension, depth, and most importantly life to the canvas. It is Ken’s unparalleled eye for color that brings a unique quality and distinctive feel to each piece.

Calling all artists who not only love to create, but who have a passion to instruct or share their craft with others!
My name is Jeanne Yee, owner of Twin Soul Art Studio, located in downtown Los Gatos. The studio opened in 2009 and remains a fun and creative space for eager learners. I mainly teach collage and some mixed-media projects to students ages 7 to adult. I want to recruit a few artists via the KALEID Gallery & Phantom Galleries circuit to teach classes at my art studio in the near future.
Here are the fine art categories I am interested in:
Encaustics
Jewelry-making (beading, wire-wrapping, resin, metal stamping, soldering, etc)
Textiles
Mixed-media assemblage
Painting (acrylic and/or watercolor)
Fashion illustration and/or cartooning
Paper making (either through stamping, staining and/or marbeling techniques)
Photography
Puppet making or plush character creations
Feel free to throw something my way and we'll discuss it
A few things to consider: the only day I am able to schedule visiting artist classes are Saturday mornings (930-1130), late afternoons (230-430), or evenings (530-830pm). You, the artist and teacher, can set the cost for the class and must provide all materials. I provide the studio space, water and snacks. We are both responsible for promotion of the class via email blasts, Facebook, Twitter and my website. We will schedule all classes 1-2 months out, so you have enough time to prepare for the class. Ideally, I will rotate the classes so each artist/teacher is able to instruct on a regular basis at my art studio.
My greatest requirement? You must believe in yourself, your craft and be a total people person with a good sense of humor. My studio environment is a happy place and students will keep coming back if they like you, true fact. You must also be able to connect with students as young as 7 and as old as 75.
The goal of this visiting artist program is three-fold: 1) to provide a studio space for your friends, family, fans and potential customers to learn from you, 2) to expose your work to a different demographic and give back to the community, and 3) to make supplemental income to support your creative endeavors.
If all this sounds lovely to you, I would love to hear from you via EMAIL and we can correspond this way until we figure out the details. I am most likely going to recruit 3 to start with, 7 total. We will have a chance to meet at the studio and discuss your "creative plan" before we finalize the schedule.
Feel free to visit my website at http://www.twinsoulartstudio.com to gain a glimpse into the studio and see what it's all about. Do not hesitate to email me with any questions.

Phantom Galleries presents new works by Joe Perea at Good Karma Vegan Cafe.
ENANTIODROMIA is the process by which something is transformed into or revealed as being the same as its opposite. Perea’s hyper detailed monochromatic drawings reveal the chaos and order that can be found in all things in the above and the below. The future of quantum healing is here.
