Solo exhibition by San Jose based artist Shawn Paul Gilbert.
California Artist Shawn Paul Gilbert who for a ten year period was in the craft of photography but changed things up to pursue his dream of painting.
" I believe that an Artists purpose is to reflect the world that we are in. I show people, places and things that affect my life. Music, friends, life in general find there way into my work. Political themes feature prominently as well. The last series of work centering around Children, War and the destructive power of being the biggest kid on the block while trying to maintain power and influence. I work in oils because to me color is vital. Oils provide a depth that is unmatched by other mediums. My work will expand and change over the course of my life, as I have been painting for 7 years."
